Erythema multiforme, also known as exudative erythema multiforme, is an acute self-limiting inflammatory skin disease. The rash is polymorphic and the typical lesions are target-shaped or iris-shaped erythema.
Causes of erythema multiforme: Viruses, bacteria, mycoplasma, protozoa and other infections can induce this disease.
Treatment first removes the cause, such as eliminating lesions and discontinuing suspected allergenic drugs.
Mild cases: take diphenhydramine tablets, vitamin C tablets, etc.
Severe cases: give sufficient amounts of corticosteroids such as prednisolone tablets. Infusion, enhanced nutrition, etc.
Local treatment: If there are only erythema and papules, calamine lotion can be applied outside. Can be used externally such as neomycin and pectin. If there are blisters, erosion, or water seepage, you can use 3% boric acid solution to apply wet compresses. Or use a sterilized needle to break the blister and extract the blister fluid. Maintain eye and oral hygiene and clean up secretions in time.
Be careful not to eat spicy food. Do not take medicines or foods to which you are allergic.
If you get erythema multiforme, it’s best to see a specialist and don’t take random medicines by yourself.
