The Red Flag Canal, located in the city of Linzhou in Anyang, Henan Province, is a national AAAAA-level tourist attraction, a national key cultural relics protection unit, and is known as the "Eighth Wonder of the World". It is a project built by the people of Linxian County (now Linzhou City) in the 1960s to bring Zhangzhang into the forest from the waist of the Taihang Mountains under extremely difficult conditions, and has been called the "Artificial Heavenly River".
The Red Flag Canal takes the Touzhang River as its source. The head of the canal is located in Shanxi Province, Pingshun County, Shicheng Town, under the Houbi break. Total trunk canal length of 70.6 kilometers, the bottom of the canal width of 8 meters, canal wall height of 4.3 meters, the longitudinal slope of 1/8000, the design maximum flow rate of 23 cubic meters per second, all cut in the peaks and peaks of the Taihang mountain waist, the project is difficult and dangerous.
Historical significance:
The completion of the Red Flag Canal completely improved the poor living environment of the people of Linxian County who relied on the sky and waited for the rain, solved the problem of 567,000 people and 370,000 head of livestock to eat water, 540,000 mu of arable land was irrigated, and the grain yield per mu increased from 100 kilograms in the early stage of the Red Flag Canal's non-construction to 476.3 kilograms in 1991. Linzhou people called "life canal", "happy canal".
