The methods and steps for cleaning kelp are as follows:
Soak kelp
Take a basin of clean water, add an appropriate amount of salt, and stir evenly.
Soak the kelp in salt water for 15-20 minutes. This can soften the kelp and remove the sediment and impurities attached to the surface.
2. Clean the surface
Rinse the kelp with running water and gently rub the surface with your fingers to remove residual salt water and impurities.
Be careful not to rub too much to avoid damaging the structure of the kelp.
3. Cut off the roots
Use scissors to cut off the roots of the kelp, which is the dirtiest part.
Be careful not to damage the kelp leaves when cutting.
4. Rinse with running water
Put the kelp into the flowing water and rub it gently with your fingers until the water becomes clear.
The purpose of this step is to completely remove any sediment or impurities that may remain on the kelp.
5. Control the water and drain it
Wrap the kelp with clean gauze or kitchen towel, squeeze it gently to remove excess water.
You can also hang the kelp and drain it to avoid the growth of bacteria.
6. Refrigerated storage
Put the drained kelp into a fresh-keeping bag or box and store it in the refrigerator.
Refrigerated kelp can be stored for 3-5 days and needs to be washed again before consumption.
Warm reminder:
When cleaning kelp, the water temperature should not be too high to avoid destroying the nutrients of kelp.
Do not use detergents or other chemicals when cleaning kelp to avoid residual harmful substances.
There may be some salt stains on the surface of the kelp. This is normal and will not affect consumption.
Wash the kelp and eat it as soon as possible to ensure a fresh taste.
