My hometown is in the northwest. In Dingxi, Gansu, the main plant around us is sand watermelon. Hexi Corridor is planted all the way to Dingxi, Lanzhou Gaolan and other places near Xinjiang, especially in Ningxia, where sand-dried watermelon is the most famous. Due to the special geographical location and environmental climate factors, its rich time began to be listed in large quantities in July and August every year, which lasted for more than two months.
Sand watermelon in northwest China, especially in Ningxia, is also called Xiangshan sand watermelon. It has several characteristics: thick skin (a watermelon weighs more than 20 kilograms casually), high sugar content (large temperature difference between day and night), bright red flesh, rich juice, sweet and refreshing, and it is the best partner for local people to relieve summer heat and quench their thirst in hot summer in northwest China.
Due to the geographical location and climatic factors in the northwest, its listing is a little later than that in Hainan, Guangxi and other places, which is also a big shortcoming of it. Therefore, we miss a certain price advantage in sales every year.
Just like our hometown, the price of watermelon is really less than one yuan from July to August every year. At the lowest time, I remember that it was only 20 cents, so a big watermelon was only a dozen dollars. Very cheap. In the harvest year, many melon farmers can't sell their watermelons, so they either rot in the ground and throw them in the ditch, or feed them to sheep and pigs. There is no way, they can't sell it.
On the other hand, in our hometown, there are several first-tier cities such as Beishangguangshen and Shenzhen and the coastal areas of Guangdong. I remember seeing the sand watermelon in my hometown in the fruit supermarket in Zhuhai last year, and I felt very cordial. But when I look at the price, I can't help sighing. The watermelons here are actually sold to 3.5 yuan for a catty, and the price gap is ten times. It is really a price that melon farmers can't sell and consumers can't afford.
I also thought about it later, and it is true that the whole agricultural product market is like this, and the intermediate price has risen several times.
First, in order to gain profits and raise prices, middle vendors will increase prices from vendors acquired in the place of origin to vendors in the fruit wholesale market to supermarket owners.
Second, the intermediate logistics company draws a part.
Third, logistics costs drive up prices. To tell the truth, the transportation cost of fruits from Xinjiang, Gansu, Ningxia and other regions to coastal cities is really a big expense because of the long distance.
This led to this situation.
In the end, the goods in the place of origin are really worthless, and the goods in the place of consumption are rare and expensive, and most of them can't afford it.
abstract
For the melon farmers who can't sell and consumers can't afford it, neither of them lied. The real situation is like this. Melon farmers have no market and can only rely on middlemen, who are the most profitable people. They raised the price and hurt the hearts of melon farmers and consumers.
