The sycamore and ash do not touch.
Platanus and ash are two different plants, belonging to the Platanus and Betula families respectively. They are very different in terms of morphological characteristics and growth environment. The sycamore is a common deciduous tree mainly found in temperate regions of the northern hemisphere. Its flowers and bark contain a protein called lectin, which is an allergen for some people. Ash is a deciduous tree of the Salix order and the Betulaceae family, mainly distributed in East Asia. The bark contains a substance called oleic acid, which can be used to refine wax and make candles. Symptoms of a sycamore ash allergy include runny nose, sneezing, stuffy nose, itchy throat, red, swollen and itchy eyes.
