Of all the factors that make up product packaging, color is the earliest and most pleasant to touch people's reaction. More than 80% information comes from vision, which directly stimulates consumers' desire to buy. Some market scholars even think that color is the first factor that determines sales. Therefore, color should be regarded as one of the key factors affecting the success of packaging design.
(1) The concern of color and packaging is mainly to reveal or reflect the articles packaged internally through the color of the outer packaging, so that people can basically perceive or associate with the inner packaging when looking at the outer packaging. Although some packages don't look like the above-mentioned colors with similar commodity attributes from the main color, there must be some symbolic color blocks, color dots, color lines or concentrated contents highlighted by this color in the pictures of their outer packaging.
(2) Contrast between colors The contrast between colors is the easiest thing to express but very difficult to grasp in many commodity packages. In China's paintings and calligraphy, there is a popular saying: impenetrable, but a matter of comparison. In packaging design, there are generally the following aspects of comparison: the depth of color application, the weight of color application, the point of color application, the complexity of color application, the elegance and vulgarity of color application, and the comparison of color application. The above-mentioned color contrast is just a way of showing a pattern through different color contrast, but this pigment is an indispensable object of the whole packaging pattern elements, and some patterns are even ingenious combinations of different pigments. Therefore, in the process of studying packaging design, it is impossible to design a good packaging pattern without paying attention to the contrast between color and color itself.
(3) Combination of color and other factors In packaging design, the use of color should also consider the psychological and social factors of color, such as the psychological reaction caused by color, the emotional and symbolic significance of color, the agreeableness of color, color and appreciation habits. The handling of these problems will directly affect the sales of goods. According to the inherent color or attribute of goods, it is an important means to design colors by using visual colors. It is the best way to give people homologous association by using the color of the product itself to reproduce the packaging color, so as to have an impression on the basic concepts inside the product. Of course, there are also phenomena that do the opposite. Some designers can boldly use color contrast, and they can achieve better and more peculiar effects. It should be noted, however, that proper limit's poor mastery will be counterproductive.
Several popular packaging materials on the market at present:
(1) High barrier packaging material. It is composed of several different kinds of multilayer resins, which can prolong the shelf life of products and also introduce some gases to realize modified atmosphere packaging. High barrier packaging materials include plastic film, paper, foil and other substrates. The basic coatings of the four most important high barrier materials are nylon, PVDC, EVOH and sprayed metal film. Today, some composite packaging plastic films have reached more than 15 layers.
(2) Lamination technology. With the rapid development of printing technology, adhesives are widely used in packaging and printing industry, and there are more and more varieties. For example, sticking a plastic film on printing paper can not only increase the fastness, but also increase the appearance, and has many functions of moisture-proof and pollution-prevention. Therefore, lamination technology is widely used in various packaging. The initial bonding process used pre-coated film (hot melt type), and then gradually developed into dry composite (solvent type). In the late 1990s, with the strengthening of people's awareness of environmental protection, a more advanced wet laminating technology (water-soluble adhesive) was developed in China, and the water-based laminating machine and water-based laminating adhesive matched each other. It should be noted that while adopting new materials and new technologies, product packaging should not only meet the needs of users, but also meet the national standards and environmental protection requirements, and be practical and economical.
