Tingzi porridge was created by the Ting family in the suburbs of Guangzhou in the old days. Liwan District, now the local cultural center of Guangzhou, used to be a suburb with crisscrossed rivers and lychee trees planted along the river. It was called Litchi Bay. Summer was a good season for visiting. Every evening, literati loved to come here to play and sing sour songs. poetry. The artistic conception is not enough to just chant without eating. The nearby boat owners may have thought that porridge was easy to make, so they started a porridge business in their small boats. When the guests ordered porridge, they would roll the porridge on the boat and hand it to the shore or on the cruise ship. As soon as they came back and forth, they would call "Tingzi porridge".
There is also a legend about "Tingzi Porridge". It is said that there was a girl named Jin Shui on the boat who was very kind-hearted. One day she put a carp caught by her father back into the river. A few years later, Jin Shui's father became seriously ill. She was very sad and came to the river to pray for the immortal's blessing. At this time, a fairy came out of the water and said: "I am the carp that you rescued a few years ago. You only need to cook some fish and shrimp porridge, add some oily crispy things and sell it to others, and you can exchange money to take your father to see a doctor. He will be cured within 10 days." Jin Shui followed the instructions and cured his father's disease. From then on, the porridge was named "Tingzi porridge".
