Woodpeckers are well-known forest birds. In addition to killing pests under the bark, such as longicorn larvae, the traces of chisel wood can also be used as an indicator of healthy logging in forests. It is a common resident bird, and there are green woodpecker and spotted woodpecker widely distributed in China. They feed on some pests, such as longicorn beetles, brown beetles, winged moths, smelly bedbugs, etc., and can eat about 1500 every day. Because woodpeckers eat a lot and have a wide range of activities, in the forest of 13.3 hectares, if a pair of woodpeckers inhabit, more than 90% of insects can be pecked away in a winter.
