Almonds grow in low- to mid-altitude mountainous areas between 32 degrees north latitude and 40 degrees north latitude (400-800 meters above sea level) and like calcium-containing soil. It is common in arid slopes with lots of rocks and gravel, and the annual precipitation is less than 800mm. The annual average sunshine is more than 2,200 hours, the frost-free period is more than 210 days, and the annual average minimum temperature is more than minus 14 degrees.
Nowadays, the paperbark variety of almond saplings cultivated by Henan's almond ecological agriculture are planted in many areas of the country and are particularly suitable for growing in warm and arid areas.
Suitable planting areas are: Shandong, northern Zhejiang, northern Anhui, southern Hebei, Henan, Shanxi, Shaanxi, Ningxia, Gansu, southern Xinjiang and other areas with suitable conditions. The humidity in the south is too high, and the temperature in the north is too low. Not suitable for planting.
