Valentine's Day in the West, also known as Saint Valentine's Day or Saint Valentine's Day, falls on February 14 every year. At first, it was to commemorate the Roman saint Valentine. Later, people gradually designated this day as Valentine's Day. In the 3rd century A.D., there was an all-round crisis in the Roman Empire. With the economic depression, political corruption and social unrest, the aristocratic class frantically suppressed the uprising of ordinary people and Christians in order to maintain their rule. It is against this background that Christian saint Valentine was arrested and imprisoned.
After going to prison, Valentine moved the warden's daughter with an honest heart, not afraid of power. The warden's daughter fell in love with Valentine and gave him a lot of care. But paper can't cover the fire, and soon, their love affair spread to the ears of feudal rulers. The ruling class demanded that the prison be strong enough to kill Valentine, and the warden's daughter begged her father. In order not to embarrass the warden and bring danger to the warden's daughter, Valentine died generously.
Before the execution, he wrote a long suicide note to the warden's daughter. In the letter, he showed that he was innocent, and he was aboveboard and not afraid of death all his life. At the same time, he also told the warden's daughter about his thoughts and deep attachment. On February 14, AD 270, Valentine was executed. Christians specially designated this day as "St. Valentine's Day" to commemorate Valentine's sacrifice for justice and pure love. Later generations changed this day to Valentine's Day.
With the passage of time, Valentine's Day has more customs. For example, in the early morning of Valentine's Day, people will peep out from the keyhole at home. Legend has it that if the first person a single man or woman meets in the morning is a person, he is single that year. If the first person you meet goes hand in hand, you are likely to get love that year. If you see a rooster and a hen, you are likely to get married before Christmas that year.
