Xia Gu Cao

The flower and fruit spikes of Xia Gu Cao, family Labiatae. Generally, it is used as medicine in summer by taking half-dried fruit spikes, which are mainly produced in Jiangsu, Anhui, Zhejiang, Henan and other places, and also produced in other provinces. In summer, when the fruit spikes half dry, pick, dry, spare.

Application

This product is used for a variety of tumors, such as liver and gallbladder tumors, thyroid adenomas, thyroid cancer, lymphosarcoma, breast tumors, mediastinal tumors and so on.

It is often combined with wild chrysanthemum, dandelion, white peony, white-flower snakeweed, etc. to treat liver and gallbladder tumors which are caused by stagnation of blood stasis and congestion, and the liver yin is depleted and liver fire is inflamed;

It is often combined with huang yao zi, gecko, oyster, zhe pei mou, stiff silkworm, etc. to treat thyroid adenoma, thyroid cancer, lymphosarcoma, and mediastinal tumors which are caused by phlegm-congeal and phlegm-fire stagnation;

It is also used in treating thyroid adenoma and thyroid cancer.

It is often used in combination with Wang Bu Liuhang, Ba Yue Zha, Qing Pi, Citrus aurantium, etc. to treat breast tumors in which the liver loses detachment and drainage, and the liver meridian qi is stagnant and congealed.

(1) Dizziness, redness and swelling of the eyes : used for liver fever, redness and swelling of the eyes, and hyperactivity of liver yang, headache, dizziness, can be used with bitter tea, wild chrysanthemum.

(2) Lymph node tuberculosis, goiter, mastitis, mumps, carbuncle and poison : often with Chai Hu, red peony, Zhe Beimu. For scrofula, gall tumors, often with oyster, zhebei mother of pearl.

Xia Gu Cao Granules are used for clearing fire, brightening eyes, dispersing knots, and reducing swelling, for headache, dizziness, scrofula, gall tumors, breast carbuncle swelling and pain, thyroid enlargement, lymph node tuberculosis, breast hyperplasia, and also used for the adjuvant treatment of breast cancer and thyroid cancer.

Note on Use Caution is advised for those with weak spleen and stomach.
