Peng Yaoxin, a snail farmer in Pengjia Village, Yanli Town, Qujiang District, Quzhou City, Zhejiang Province, introduced that he raised "Chinese White Jade Snail", a close relative of French giant snail, and a kind of "health meat" with high protein, low fat and nearly zero cholesterol content.
Peng Yaoxin was very excited to explore a new way to get rich by breeding big snails. At present, 33 households have followed Peng Yaoxin to raise "cows", and many villagers have come to visit and study.
"From the current situation, snails are small in size and have high breeding benefits. They are more suitable for small and medium-sized retail investors and deserve special attention." Zheng Hefu, director of the Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Bureau of Qujiang District Agriculture Bureau, said that it is the general direction to engage in structural reform of agricultural supply side and develop alternative aquaculture with environmental friendliness and high added value.
"Breeding large snails adopts circular agriculture mode, which avoids problems such as high cost and high pollution." Peng Yaoxin introduced that his family has 3 acres of vegetable fields, all of which are planted with bitter vegetables that snails like to eat, and snail manure has become fertilizer for bitter vegetables.
Comparing raising pigs with raising snails, Peng Yaoxin calculated an account: the first is to save land. Raising 1 10,000 snails occupies only 150 square meters, while raising 300 pigs requires 650 square meters.
The second is to save materials. The ratio of meat to feed for snails is 1∶ 1, that is, input of 1 kg feed can produce 1 kg "beef" meat, while the ratio of meat to feed for pigs is 1∶3, which is much less efficient.
Third, the input-output ratio is high. Raising 1 10,000 snails is similar to raising 300 pigs, earning about150,000 yuan every year, but the former investment is only about 40,000 yuan, while the latter investment needs several times more.
People's Network-Snail Breeding has a big income and a good market.
