Di Huang (Latin name: Rehmannia glutinosa (Gaetn.) Libosch. ex Fisch. et Mey.), a perennial herb of the genus Dihuang in the family Xuanzanaceae, up to 30 centimeters tall, with fleshy rhizomes that are yellow when fresh, and stems that are purplish-red under cultivated conditions. Up to 5.5 cm in diameter, leaf blade ovate to long elliptic, leaf veins impressed above, flowers slightly arranged in racemes at the top of the stem, corolla purple-red outside, yellow-purple inside, anther chamber rectangular-rounded, capsule ovate to long ovate, flowering and fruiting period of April-July.
