From Longjing, Longjing is located at the northwest foot of Wengjiashan in the west of West Lake.

Longjing tea, named after Longjing, is one of the top ten famous teas in China and belongs to green tea. Now it is mainly produced in the central part of Zhejiang Province, which is divided into three producing areas: West Lake, Qiantang and Yuezhou.

Ge Hong was an alchemist in Longjing during the Jin Dynasty. Longjing Temple was founded in the second year of Ganyou in the Five Dynasties (949). It was originally named as the Courtyard for Visiting the Country, and it was also called the Old Longjing in Luohuiwu, about 500 meters away from here.

In the Qing Dynasty, Longjing tea became more and more famous. During the Qianlong period, the emperor sealed the "Eighteen Imperial Trees" of Longjing and left the poems of Longjing tea. Since then, the villages around the West Lake have begun to develop tea gardens.

In the early years of the Republic of China, Longjing Temple, Hupao Temple and some tea farmers near the West Lake in Hangzhou were established, and Longjing tea sales started.

Longjing tea has been created for thousands of years. The four unique tea products are "green, fragrant, sweet and beautiful in shape" because they are green in color, rich in aroma, sweet and refreshing, and shaped like a sparrow tongue. West Lake Longjing tea is one bud, one leaf or two leaves, with flat and thin leaves, neat width strips and green and yellow colors.

At the beginning of the twentieth century, tea products were called "lion, dragon, cloud, tiger and plum" because of the differences in producing areas and frying methods, such as "lion word Longjing". Later, it was changed to three categories: lion, dragon and plum. "Lion Longjing" or "Lion Peak Longjing" was produced in Longjing Village, Xihu Township.

"Mei Zi Longjing" or "Mei Jun Longjing" is produced in meijiawu, Fancun, Yunqi and Waidaqiao of Xihu Township. "Dragon Longjing" or "West Lake Longjing" is produced in the rest of West Lake Township.

At present, the national standard stipulates that Longjing tea is a geographical indication product, and Hangzhou Technical Supervision Bureau stipulates that Longjing series names can only be used in the three areas of West Lake producing area, Yuezhou producing area and Qiantang producing area in Zhejiang Province, and the so-called Longjing in any other producing area is all counterfeit.
