The stem of Prunella vulgaris is 20-30cm high, purplish red, with a blunt quadrangular shape. The stem and leaf are oval or oval, with a length of 1.5-6cm and a width of 0.7-2.5cm, and the edges have inconspicuous wavy teeth or are almost entire.
The surface is olive green, the back is green, and the cymbals are densely formed into spikes with a top growth of 2-4cm. The corolla is purple, blue-purple or red-purple, and the nutlets are oval-shaped and yellow-brown.
