How many times do bamboo worms breed a year?
Once.

The reproduction mode of bamboo worms is oviparous, and one generation occurs every year. Bamboo worms will lay eggs in the basal internodes of young bamboo shoots, and it takes 2 ~ 5 days to hatch into larvae. Larvae will attach to the bamboo tube of branchlets, causing damage from May to mid-September, and absorbing bamboo liquid will cause harm.

The larvae of bamboo worms will pupate in early September and overwinter, and fly out as adults in June, laying eggs on thick branches of 2-8cm bamboo forest. After eclosion, the adult will drill a small hole with a diameter of 1.5mm in the concave part of the internode and climb out.
