Shi shou fish refers to yellow croaker.

Shi Shou Fish is also known as yellow croaker, also called river fish. This fish can scream out of the water, glows at night, and has stones in its head that look like chess pieces, so it is called the Stonehead Fish. Stonefish is the perch order stonefish family of about 160 species of fish collectively. Generally benthic, carnivorous, most of the distribution of warm sea or tropical coast, a few live in temperate or freshwater waters.

The yellowtail, the body is nearly rectangular and laterally compressed, the dorsal and ventral edges of the anterior convex and the rear is low. The body length is about 30 centimeters. The head is large and laterally compressed, with a rounded snout. The eyes are equal in size and laterally superior; the interocular septum is wide and slightly convex.

Major groups

The clustering of the genera Bao Gu Fu and Wan (Fish or) into the subfamily Bao Gu Fu supports the view of domestic scholars that this subfamily is more distantly related to the other taxa of Shishou fishes. The interspecific genetic distances of the genus Baju are greater than those of other genera of fishes in the same family, indicating that the genus Baju is more primitive, and the interspecific differentiation is early.
