Bighead fish is a freshwater fish, which lives in fresh water and is common in rivers, lakes and ponds. Bighead fish generally inhabit the middle or upper layer of water, and the swimming speed is relatively slow. From the feeding point of view, bighead fish is a kind of filter-feeding fish, and they can eat a lot of food.
growth rate
In natural rivers, lakes and other water bodies, individuals with a weight of 10 kg or more can usually be seen, and the maximum can reach 50 kg. Suitable for breeding in fertilizer ponds. Under the condition of sufficient feed, 1 year-old fish can weigh 0.8- 1 kg.
The age of sexual maturity is the same as or earlier than that of grass carp. In most areas, the first mature individual needs more than 10 kg, but in Guangdong and Guangxi areas, parent fish usually less than 10 kg can also lay eggs. The spawning season is mostly from early May to mid-June, and other reproductive ecological conditions are roughly the same as those of silver carp.
