In the middle of Matteo Ricci's tomb is a marble tombstone, which is protected by square bricks. It is engraved with eight characters "Tomb of Jesuits Li Gong", and the small print on the right side is: "Mr. Li Matteo,No. Xitai, Atlantic Italian Asian. I have been a member of Zhenxiu since I was a child. In the afternoon of Wanli in the Ming Dynasty, navigation first entered China's Yan religion, and Wanli Gengzi came to the capital in the year, and Wanli Gengshou died in the year, 59 years in the world and 42 years in the society. " On the left is Latin with roughly the same content. The tombstone is surrounded by roses with religious significance, but at the top of the tombstone is a cross of loong wrapped around the West. Behind the stone tablet is a rectangular brick tomb with a gray body and a black top and a circular arch. The tomb is1.5m high, 2.4m long and1.3m wide. This is the "Matteo Ricci Cemetery".
Next to the east side of Matteo Ricci's tomb is the cemetery of other western missionaries in Ming and Qing Dynasties, and now * * * retains the tombstones of 63 missionaries. They come from Portugal, Italy, Germany, France, Belgium and other European countries.
