Pharmacological effects
①Antihypertensive effect
Extracts and decoctions of the bark have a long-lasting antihypertensive effect on animals. With its infusion of 5 ml (1 ~ 2 grams of raw drug) to the anesthetized dogs after intravenous injection produces significant antihypertensive effect, can be sustained for 2 ~ 3 hours, the phenomenon of "fast tolerance". In 3 renal hypertensive dogs, the decoction was administered daily by gavage at 5-8 g/kg for 4 weeks, and the reduction in systolic blood pressure was only 8-22 mmHg (4-10%) at most, so the efficacy of the treatment was not satisfactory. The concoction and dosage form of Cortex Eucommiae have some influence on the antihypertensive effect, the effect of decoction is stronger than that of tincture, and the antihypertensive effect of fried Cortex Eucommiae is greater than that of raw Cortex Eucommiae. Cortex Eucommia Ulmoides has antihypertensive effect on cats, but it lasts for a short period of time, and the phenomenon of "rapid tolerance" is not significant. The hypotensive effect on rabbits with cholesterol atherosclerosis is more significant than that on normal rabbits, but it can also produce "fast tolerance". As for the principle of antihypertensive effect, it is preliminary because the active ingredient has not yet been determined. It has been proved that the acute antihypertensive effect is not related to the vagus nerve and is not affected by atropine. For isolated rabbit heart, Cortex Eucommiae was first excited in small amount and then slightly inhibited; its inhibitory effect on the heart was also reported to be related to its pH (pH between 4 and 5), which was adjusted to be excitatory for isolated hearts of both rats and rabbits. Cortex Eucommiae has a direct dilatation effect on normal rabbit ear blood vessels, but the same concentration makes experimental cholesterol atherosclerosis rabbit ear blood vessels were contraction, on the normal rabbit coronary blood vessels and renal blood vessels in the low concentration of the dilatation effect, the high concentration is the opposite, on the atherosclerosis of rabbits coronary blood vessels in the low concentration of contraction was also presented. Because of the direct relationship between its antihypertensive and heart and blood vessels, it is inferred that it is central.
②Diuretic effect
All kinds of preparations of Cortex Eucommiae have diuretic effect on anesthetized dogs, and there is no phenomenon of "fast tolerance". It also has diuretic effect on normal rats and mice. Cortex Eucommia contains 0.4% potassium, so it is inferred that diuresis may be related to potassium.
③Other effects
Clinical use of Cortex Eucommiae infusion can reduce blood pressure in hypertensive patients, and improve the symptoms of dizziness, insomnia, etc. A large dose (20-25g/kg/day) of Cortex Eucommiae decoction to the dog by gavage can make it quiet, sleepy, and not easy to accept external stimuli. The large dose of Cortex Eucommiae also has the effect of inhibiting the central nervous system in mice. Cortex Eucommiae can inhibit the excitatory effect induced by the posterior pituitary of rats and rabbits on the isolated uterus and make the uterus relax, but the isolated uterus of cats is excited. Some inhibitory effects of a decoction of Cortex Eucommiae on Mycobacterium tuberculosis in the test tube have been reported. Its alcoholic infusion seems to reduce the absorption of cholesterol in the intestines of rats.
The leaves of Cortex Eucommiae contain Eucommia gum, Pinoresinol diglucoside, Kaempferol, Eucommiae glucoside, Sinequanoside, Rebutoloside, Hapagide acetate, Galactitol, and some trace elements Zinc, Copper, Iron, Calcium, Phosphorus, Manganese, and Lead.
The results of animal experiments show that eucommia can enhance the vitality of SOD in red blood cells of mice and enhance their adrenal weight. Eucommia can normalize the low physiological function, suggesting that Eucommia has certain anti-aging effect. A variety of trace elements rich in eucommia have close relationship with the structure and function of human endocrine system, immune function system, growth and development system, especially with anti-aging. For example, zinc can accelerate the repair of trauma, ulcers, surgical wounds, etc., and play a specific role in promoting cell division of lymphocytes, which indicates that zinc has a role in delaying aging.
Drug Concoction
Eucommia: remove the coarse skin, wash, moisten, cut into squares or silk strips, and dry in the sun. Salt Duchenne: first use salt with appropriate amount of boiling water to dissolve, take Duchenne block or silk strips, so that with the salt water is fully mixed through the absorption, and then placed in the pot, stir-fried to the degree of slightly burnt spots with a gentle fire, remove and dry. (Each 100 pounds of eucommia, with 3 pounds of salt) eucommia after frying, then eucommia gum is destroyed, the active ingredients are easy to decoct.
