Wang Xuan said: "The etiquette system stipulates that (resigned princes) should be filial to the monarch who served before. What should the monarch do so that the princes can be filial to him? " Mencius said: "When there is advice, you will listen to it, and when there is suggestion, you will adopt it, so that your grace will spread to the people;"
