What festival is Shangyuan Festival?
Shangyuan Festival, also known as Lantern Festival, Little First Month, Yuanxi or Lantern Festival, is the 15th day of the first lunar month every year, which is one of the traditional festivals in China. Yuanxiao is named after the Lantern Festival, which is named because it is the first full moon night in a year.
The origin of Shangyuan Festival
After the death of Emperor Gaozu Liu Bang, Lv Hou was in chaos. Zhou bo and Chen Ping, the ministers of the DPRK, swept away the "Zhulv" and made Liu Heng emperor. The date of sweeping away the "Zhulv Rebellion" happened to be the fifteenth day of the first month, so every year on the evening of the fifteenth day of the first month, Emperor Wen would go out to play in the palace to celebrate. From then on, it was handed down from generation to generation, and gradually formed a fixed festival. Because the first month is also called January and the night is also called Xiao, it is called Lantern Festival.
