2. Legend

Legend has it that in ancient times, there were ten suns in the sky, which brought drought to the world. Houyi shot down nine suns and saved the whole life. The Queen Mother of the West gave her the elixir of youth. Hou Yi was reluctant to eat, and left it to his wife Chang 'e for safekeeping. One of Hou Yi's disciples coveted the elixir and forced Chang 'e to hand it over. Chang 'e swallowed it in a hurry and flew to the sky.

It was on the 15th of August, and the moon was big and bright. Because she didn't give up Houyi, Chang 'e stopped at the nearest moon and lived here. Houyi was heartbroken, and on August 15th every year, she put down a banquet for the moon to reunite with Chang 'e.

3. Story

It is said that one year in the Mid-Autumn Festival, when Tang Xuanzong and Yang Guifei enjoyed the moon and ate Hu Bing, Tang Xuanzong thought the name of Hu Bing was not nice. Yang Guifei looked up at the bright moon and blurted out "moon cake", and the name of "moon cake" gradually spread among the people.
