Atrophic gastritis belongs to the category of epigastric pain in traditional Chinese medicine, with complex syndrome types and long course of disease. A middle-aged male patient suffered from recurrent epigastric pain for more than 8 years. The pain was acupuncture-like, especially after eating, and the pain was seized on both sides, which made him dry. Gastroscope and pathological diagnosis showed chronic atrophic antritis with mild intestinal metaplasia. There are small ecchymoses on the dark red side of the tongue, with thin and scanty fur and heavy and astringent pulse. Syndrome belongs to qi-blood imbalance, deficiency of both qi and yin, qi deficiency and blood stasis, obstruction of gastric collaterals and loss of stomach nourishment. The decoction for invigorating qi, promoting blood circulation, dredging collaterals, nourishing yin and regulating stomach, and tonifying yang and restoring five herbs is prepared as follows: 50g of Radix Astragali, 0g of Radix Pseudostellariae 1 5g, 0g of Radix Angelicae Sinensis, Semen Persicae, Radix Paeoniae Rubra, Radix Paeoniae Alba, Herba Lycopi, Radix Ophiopogonis, Radix Curcumae and Fructus Crataegi1dosage per day. When taking 10 dose, the pain is greatly reduced, the food intake is increased, and the second defecation is self-regulated. After half a year's treatment, all the symptoms disappeared, the complexion was rosy and the weight increased. The reexamination of gastroscope only left superficial antritis. Pathology showed that intestinal metaplasia disappeared.
