Rushan City belongs to Weihai City, Shandong Province, so it is named because there is Darushan in the territory. The cultivated species of Rushan oysters are Pacific oysters, mainly in raft culture mode, and the breeding areas are distributed in the open waters of Rushankou and Langnuankou.
Rushan, located on the golden south coast of Shandong Peninsula at 37 north latitude, has a coastline of nearly 200 kilometers, and the first-class seawater quality can be used in the sea area1700,000 mu, making it one of the top oyster producing areas in the world.
Suitable temperature, salinity, fertile water quality and rich basic bait make Rushan Oyster have the qualities of big head, smooth meat and delicious taste, and the trace elements such as protein, fat, zinc, iron, manganese and copper in every 100 grams of oyster meat are especially superior to similar products.
Oyster culture
Oyster farming is a characteristic industry in Rushan, but influenced by traditional habits, oyster farming in Rushan used to be "sowing in spring and harvesting in autumn". Due to the lack of islands off Rushan Bay, strong waves in summer, and more attachments in seawater in summer, the survival rate of oysters is not high and the output is low, which seriously restricts the development of oyster industry.
In 2000, technicians from the Marine Fisheries Bureau of Rushan City, after returning from studying abroad, jointly developed the oyster culture technology of "autumn sowing and spring harvesting" with China Ocean University. Buy semi-finished oysters from other places in September every year and start breeding. Harvest them from 1 1 month to April of the following year.
This culture mode avoids summer storms, shortens the culture cycle and greatly improves the survival rate of oysters. Now this farming model has been fully promoted in Rushan.
