It should be Juniperus communis. Juniperus communis (Latin name: Trichosanthes kirilowii? Maxim.) is a perennial climbing herb in the family Cucurbitaceae, genus Juniperus, up to 10 meters long. The rhizome is plump, terete, with a yellow tunic. The stem is much branched, glabrous; the leaves are alternate, suborbicular or cordate, dioecious; male flowers are several in racemes, rarely solitary, corolla lobes obovate, female flowers solitary, ovary ovate, fruit subglobose, orange-red when ripe, flowering and fruiting period July-November.
Distributed in China, Liaoning, N, E, and S China, Shaanxi, Gansu, Sichuan, Guizhou, and Yunnan. It is found in the undergrowth of forests, thickets, meadows, and fields near villages on mountain slopes at altitudes of 200-1800 meters. Because this species is a traditional Chinese medicine for smallpox pollen and raritas, it is widely cultivated in and outside its natural distribution area. It is distributed in Korea, Japan, Vietnam and Laos.
Juniperus chinensis has the effects of quenching thirst, diuretic, and suppressing cough and expectorant. The seeds contain fatty fatty oil; the fruits contain triterpene saponins, organic acids, resins, sugars, and pigments; the roots contain proteins, saponins, and acids.
Reproduction methods
Split-root reproduction: in mid to late March, digging up 3-5 years old white section of the old roots of the fresh robust female plants, divided into 7-10cm small sections, hole planting, watering, about 10 days seedlings, combined with the plowing of 2-3 times a year fertilizer.
Seed reproduction: September-October harvest fruit, to be a little soft skin, take out the seeds to grass ash mixed with the seeds rubbed pulp, dry storage for the winter; can also be hung with fruit stalks in the ventilation. Cold bed nursery in early spring, the seed tip into the soil, often sprayed to keep the seedbed moist, to be seed sprouting, began to aerate the bed temperature control at about 22 ℃, about 10 days after the soil, see the true leaves can be extended on the pot or planting cultivation. Direct seeding in April, choose fertile soil, well-drained land, open holes with sufficient fertilizer, hole spacing 30x40 cm. Cover the soil after sowing seeds, and then cover the thick 2 cm mud, about half a month out of the ground, when there are 2 pieces of true leaves, each hole to stay 1 seedling, to be trailing up to 50 cm when inserted into the lead rod.
