Prednisone acetate is an adrenocorticotropic hormone drug. It has anti-inflammatory and anti-allergic effects, can reduce the permeability of capillary walls and cell membranes, reduce inflammatory exudation, and inhibit the formation and release of histamine and other toxic substances. It also promotes the conversion of proteolysis into sugar, reduces glucose utilization, and increases blood glucose and hepatic glycogen. When serious toxic infection, with a large number of antibacterial drugs can have a good cooling, anti-toxicity, anti-shock and promote the role of symptomatic relief. Clinically, it is mainly used in bovine ketonemia, sheep pregnancy toxemia, allergic diseases and rheumatism. Dexamethasone acetate is also an adrenocorticotropic hormone drug. It has a more significant anti-inflammatory effect and control of skin irritation than prednisone. In recent years there have been reports of preparations of dexamethasone being used for synchronized delivery of female animals. The use is the same as prednisone. There are two kinds of preparations: tablets and injections. Dexamethasone acetate tablets, intraday dosage, horses 2.5-5 mg, cattle 5-20 mg, dogs, cats 0.125-1 mg. Dexamethasone sodium phosphate injection, one day intramuscular or intravenous dose, horses 2.5-5 mg, cattle 5-20 mg, sheep, pigs 4-12 mg, dogs, cats 0.125-1 mg. The product can also be injected intra-articularly, horses, cattle 2 to 10 mg.
The above drugs should be used in conjunction with antimicrobial drugs when used for acute bacterial infections. It is contraindicated in osteoporosis and vaccination period.
