Sichuan Yading National Nature Reserve is located in Shangri-La Town, Daocheng County, south of Ganzi Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan Province. It is located in the east of Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, in the middle of Hengduan Mountains, adjacent to Shangri-La in Yunnan Province in the south and Lugu Lake and Lijiang in the southeast.
Sichuan Yading Nature Reserve belongs to the humid climate of continental monsoon plateau. Due to the relative height difference of 3,000 meters, the vertical differentiation of climate is obvious: below 3,200 meters, it is a warm and humid mountain zone; between 3,200 and 3,600 meters, it is a cold temperate mountain zone; between 3,600 and 4,300 meters, it is an alpine sub-cold zone; and above 4,600 meters, it is an alpine cold ice and snow zone.
The forest area of Sichuan Aden National Nature Reserve is 560 square kilometers, with vascular plants 1 126 species and vertebrates 29 1 species. More than 5000 meters above sea level 10, more than 30 peaks above 4500 meters above sea level, and 62 alpine ancient glaciers and lakes. In June of 200 1 year, it became a national nature reserve; July 2003 10 was included in the United Nations MAB protection plan.
Ecological value
Since the Quaternary (2.5 million years), due to the influence of neotectonic movement, the area where Sichuan Yading National Nature Reserve is located has undergone strong uplift and fracture, forming a unique plateau canyon landform. Preserved a very high mountain natural ecosystem, including ice peaks and snow ridges, wide glaciers, virgin forests and plateau meadows.
The straight-line distance from Kanggu, which is 2909 meters above sea level, to the main peak of Xiannairi in the north of the reserve is only18km, and the relative height difference is 3123m. The huge vertical height difference forms the mountain canyon landscape, which is deep and thousands of blades stand on the wall.
The unique geological, geomorphological and climatic conditions make Sichuan Aden National Nature Reserve still preserve the primitive natural ecosystem and a large number of living fossils of rare animals, plants and insects that have been extinct in most areas since the Quaternary (2.5 million years ago), and become an important geological history museum and species gene bank.
