Although we always call carrots carrots, we really misunderstand others. Carrots belong to Umbelliferae and radishes belong to Cruciferae.
Umbelliferae and Cruciferae are far apart. They belong to two evolutionary branches of true dicotyledonous plants and have evolved separately for a long time.
In other words, our white radish is the real radish, and carrots look more like radishes.
Compare the leaves yourself, it's nothing like it, just like below.
Let's see how they bloom.
Above is the flower of carrot, a typical umbrella. Look at the flowers of white radish.
There are radish flowers and crosses on it.
In addition, celery is a close relative of carrots, and this classification depends on the leaves.
Morning glory belongs to the genus Ipomoea (Convolvulaceae). Morning glory is a general term, just like the monitor lizard I wrote in my previous article (you can go and see it if you are interested).
We usually only see wild morning glory like vines. In fact, sweet potatoes and water spinach are just morning glory.
The picture above shows our common vine morning glory.
The sweet potato mosaic below
Originated in America, it was introduced to Guangdong, China in Wanli period of Ming Dynasty.
In fact, many foods we eat are cultivated and domesticated by South American Indians, such as potatoes, tomatoes, sweet potatoes and peppers.
Water spinach flower
It says that all three species belong to sweet potato. The classification of experts is always confusing (dumbfounding)
Let me show you some beautiful morning glory.
