Shaxian District Museum was built in 1988. It is a comprehensive museum integrating the collection of cultural relics, display, investigation and research of outstanding folk cultural heritage, and publicity and education.

The main exhibits include stoneware and pottery from the Bronze Age unearthed in the territory, pottery and porcelain from the Tang to Qing Dynasties, especially those from the Song Dynasty.

When talking about the poor conditions of the old museum, Jiang Jianfei, president of the Shaxian District Collection Association, was deeply touched. "Because of the poor conditions, exhibitions could only be held in the form of pictures, and people were not at ease about displaying the collections."
