Taizhou cuisine belongs to the Huaiyang cuisine. Huaiyang cuisine carefully selects ingredients and uses techniques according to the materials; it is exquisitely prepared and elegant in style; it pursues the original taste, freshness and peace.

The Qinhu Eight Delicatessen Banquet, Meilan Banquet, Banqiao Banquet, Jiangxianxian Banquet and Whole Sheep Banquet are popular in the local area.

The main specialty dishes include Babao saury, longan balls, steamed anchovies, crab roe vermicelli, Taizhou dried shreds, Huangqiao sesame cakes, Jingjiang crab roe soup dumplings, etc.

Taizhou's snacks and delicacies have long been famous in Huaiyang cuisine, and there are many types.

The specialty snacks mainly include Jinsong preserved eggs, Huangqiao Shaobing, Zhongzhuang drunken crab, hot dried shredded noodles, Qintong fish cakes, etc., fried stinky dried noodles, five-flavor dried shredded noodles, fish soup noodles, Jiangyan crisp cakes, farm buckwheat soup cakes, Chaixu cicadas

Among them, the most famous one is the Qinhu Eight Delicacies Banquet, which includes Qinhu crabs, shrimp balls, fish cakes and soft-shell turtles as representative varieties; crab roe soup dumplings are a traditional snack in Jingjiang, dating back 200 years.

With many years of history, it is listed as one of the "Four Famous Dish in China" along with Tianjin Goubuli Steamed Bun, Shanghai Nanxiang Xiaolongbao and Yangzhou Sanding Bao.

From early April to May every year, Taizhou will hold the large-scale Qinhu Eight Delicacies Food Festival, Jingjiang River Delicacies and Soup Dumplings Food Festival, which is the best time to taste them.

The main commercial streets in Taizhou are along Renmin Road, and Shuidong Road is a food street where you can taste authentic Taizhou cuisine.
