[ Edit this paragraph] The history and origin of the World Expo
[The origin of the World Expo]
In the ancient farming society, people often carried out trading activities in festivals to celebrate harvest, religious ceremonies and celebrations, and later gradually developed into large-scale trade and exhibition gatherings with regular and fixed places for the purpose of exchanging goods. This is the earliest form of the World Expo. In the 5th century A.D., Persia held the first exhibition that surpassed the market function. In the 18th century, with the continuous emergence of new technologies and products, people gradually thought of holding exhibitions similar to fairs, but only for exhibition and not for sale, with the purpose of publicizing and displaying new products and achievements. In 1791, the Czech Republic held such an exhibition for the first time in the capital Prague. With the progress of science and technology and the development of social productive forces, the scale of the exhibition has gradually expanded, and the geographical scope of the exhibition has expanded from one place to the whole country, from home to abroad, until it has developed into a world-wide exposition with many countries participating.
After World War II, people all over the world rebuilt their homes on the ruined ruins, and on the basis of resuming production and economic recovery, the first post-war World Expo was held in Brussels, Belgium in 1958, with the theme of "Science, Civilization and Humanity". In order to embody this theme of science, a spherical pavilion with atomic energy structure was built in the Brussels World Expo, which represents the symbol that mankind has entered the new century of scientific and technological progress. Its unique and novel shape, although it is almost half a century later, is still vivid. The splendor and richness of the Expo are almost eclipsed by all the previous dock fairs.
[History of World Expositions]

[ edit this paragraph] World Exposition on Urban Election Rules
It is an international large-scale exhibition hosted by a country's government and attended by many countries or international organizations to show the achievements of mankind in social, economic, cultural and scientific fields. It is characterized by long holding time, large exhibition scale, many participating countries and far-reaching influence.
Since the first exhibition was held in London, England in 1851, the World Expo has enjoyed the reputation of "Olympic Games in the fields of economy, science and technology and culture" because of its rapid development, and has been held for 4 times. According to the latest regulations of the Bureau of International Exhibitions, world expositions can be divided into two types according to their nature, scale and duration: one is registered (formerly called comprehensive) world expositions, which usually last for six months and are held every five years; The other is the recognized (formerly known as professional) World Expo, which usually lasts for three months and is held once between two registered World Expos. The registered world exposition is different from the general trade promotion and economic investment promotion exhibitions, and it is the highest-level exposition in the world.
The Bureau of International Exhibitions (BIE) is an inter-governmental international organization specializing in supervising and guaranteeing the implementation of the Convention on International Exhibitions, coordinating and managing the hosting of the World Expo and ensuring the level of the Expo. As of November 22, it has 89 member countries. In May 1993, the Bureau of International Exhibitions officially accepted China as the 46th member. According to the election rules, the member countries of the Bureau of International Exhibitions, regardless of their size, each have one vote. In the first round of voting, if a candidate city wins more than two thirds of the votes, it will become the host city of the 21 World Expo. If no candidate city gets the required votes in the first round of voting, a second round of voting will be held, but those who get the least votes in the first round of voting will no longer participate in the competition. In the second round of voting, the candidate city that won more than two-thirds of the votes was elected. If no city has won more than two-thirds of the votes, the third round of voting will continue in the above way until two cities with the most votes are elected. The final competition will be held by these two cities, and the one with more votes will be awarded the right to host.
[ Edit this paragraph] Application procedures for the World Expo
Application:
According to BIE's regulations, countries intending to host the World Expo shall not submit a formal application to BIE nine years earlier than the date of hosting, and pay 1% of the registration fee. The application letter includes the opening and closing dates, the theme, and the legal status of the organizing Committee. BIE will inform the governments of member countries of this application, and inform them to put forward their intention to participate in the competition within six months from the date of arrival of the notification.
inspection:
six months after submitting the application letter, the chairman of the BIE executive Committee will organize an inspection according to the regulations to ensure the feasibility of the application. The inspection activities were presided over by a vice chairman of BIE, and attended by several representatives, experts and the Secretary-General. All expenses shall be borne by the applicant. The contents of the inspection are: theme and definition, opening date and duration, location, area (total area, upper and lower limits of the area that can be allocated to each exhibitor), expected number of visitors, financial feasibility and financial guarantee measures, the method for the sponsor to calculate the participation cost and financial and material allocation (to reduce the cost of each participating country), policies and measures to ensure the participating countries, the attitude of the government and various organizations interested in participating, and so on.
Voting:
If the preparatory work of the bidding country is supported by the delegation, the plenary meeting will vote eight years before the holding date as usual. If there is more than one bidding country, the plenary session will vote by secret ballot.
if after the first round of voting, the bidding country gets two-thirds of the votes, it will be awarded the right to host the games. If any application fails to get two-thirds of the votes, another vote will be held, and the country with the least votes in each vote will be eliminated, and then the host country will be determined according to the principle of two-thirds of the votes. When only two countries compete, the host country is determined according to the simple majority principle.
Registration:
The country that has won the right to host the exhibition should register the exhibition according to the general rules formulated by BIE and the review and acceptance documents determined in the participation contract (draft). The application for registration should be submitted to BIE five years before the opening date. This is also the beginning of the host government to other countries through diplomatic channels.
