Zhalong National Nature Reserve The area ranks first in Asia and fourth in the world. It is also the world's largest reed wetland and the most famous rare waterfowl nature reserve in China. In winter, it is best to use a mechanical shutter camera and keep it warm immediately after use to avoid shutter failure.
When watching red-crowned cranes, don’t wear too bright clothing to avoid scaring away the cranes. It is best to wear camouflage clothing and prepare binoculars. The time for releasing cranes every day is 9:30 and 11:00 in the morning, and 14:00 and 15:30 in the afternoon.
Scenic Area Activities: Crane Viewing Festival (Qiqihar City Founding Day): On August 1 every year, it is a large-scale international business and tourism cultural festival that integrates economy, trade, tourism, literature, art, and sports.
Best time to visit: From March to October, about 400 red-crowned cranes fly to the Zhalong Wetland to breed and rest. June to September is the best time to watch cranes, when there are more red-crowned cranes.
Food: Restaurants in the reserve use toad oil to make famous dishes at fine banquets, and use it to make various kinds of dishes such as "clear soup toad" and "Shijing toad oil". Flavor dishes for Chinese and foreign customers to taste.
