Andingmen, also known as Xi 'an "West Gate", is one of the gates of Xi 'an City Wall 18.

During the Sui and Tang Dynasties, it was the "Shunyi Gate" in the west of Chang 'an Imperial City. During the Hongwu period of the Ming Dynasty, when Xi City was expanded, the city gate was preserved and renamed "Andingmen".

Andingmen is a gate comparable in scale to the south gate of Xi, with a complete urn, watchtower and watchtower. Every day, countless cars and pedestrians pass through the city gate holes on both sides of Anding Gate. They are busy.

Andingmen is not only a city gate, but also a rare area in Xi 'an that still retains the flavor of the old city.

Because it is located in Xi City Wall Scenic Area, the scenery here is beautiful and full of classical charm. Because Andingmen is an old community with countless old alleys, it has a strong atmosphere of life and is very grounded.

1, climb the wall at zero distance

You can climb the wall from Anding Gate, and there is also a ticket gate here. Because of its low popularity, there are relatively few tourists coming here, so you can feel the magnificent city wall in a relatively leisurely manner.

Do you know that the "Andingmen" on the Xi Tower was written by Zhang Fenghui, the first governor of Shaanxi?

There is also an ancient well under the old pagoda tree in Ximen Wengcheng, which is the most famous sweet well in Xi-"Ximen Dajing".

2. Visit the parks around the city

The parks around the city are so beautiful and interesting that many people will ignore that in ancient times, this area composed of moats and city walls was actually an important part of the urban defense system.

Today, there are towering city walls on the left, rippling moats on the right, flowing bridges, flowing water and lush trees. Retired old people have nothing to do here to play table tennis, keep fit, feed fish, watch ducks and sing Shaanxi opera, which is much more interesting than young people staying at home and brushing their mobile phones.

3. Go around Nanma Road and Ma Bei Road.

Outside Xi 'an City Wall is the Park around the city, and inside the city wall is Shuncheng Lane, which has different names in different areas. In Andingmen, Shuncheng Lane in the north is called "Beimadao Lane" and Shuncheng Lane in the south is called "Nanmadao Lane". The name is also easy to understand. During the Ming and Qing Dynasties, this was an alley where officers and men stationed in the city raced horses.

The names of Nanma Lane and Beima Lane sound good, but they are not very interesting because they have become lanes. However, with the city wall as the background, it is very suitable for young artists to shoot beautiful travel blockbusters.

Step 4 go to the alley

This is Huang's favorite part, and it is also the most abundant part in the hutong, because it is full of small shops and people.

Near Andingmen, especially in the city wall, is an old residential area in Xi 'an, with Camel Lane, Xiajiashishi, Chaijiashishi, Dongbazi Street, Xibazi Street and Caikeng Bank in the south. There are East Juyuan Lane, West Juyuan Lane, Temple Lane and Mixiang Garden in the north.

Huang lived in the northern part of Andingmen these two days, near Fang Hui, where the "old security flavor" was particularly strong. Seven turns and eight bends pass through Xijuyuan Lane and Dongjuyuan Lane, and then enter a new temple lane. Suddenly, a hole appeared in the sky, as if traveling back to ancient times.

Crowded buildings, narrow streets, old houses, old gates, and residential areas basking in the sun in alleys ... isn't this old Xi? With a slow smell, who would have thought that this is the core area of Xi' an?

Step 5 taste delicious food

Enjoying food is one of the most necessary happiness in life. In the hutongs of Andingmen, there are many delicious foods that only local people know-of course, foreigners may not like them.

Huang told what he knew. Xiajiashizi is a food street. Huang used to eat steamed buns here, and the taste was very classic.

There is a Shaanxi restaurant in Nanmalu Lane, which deals in official dishes almost lost in Shaanxi. It's a little more expensive than street restaurants, and you can afford to eat it once in a while on holidays.

Deep in Zaoci Lane, there is a paomo restaurant, which is opened alone in a remote place, but it is crowded with diners at mealtimes.

Diners sit on plastic stools on the sidewalk, electric cars stop by, chatting while eating steamed buns, and there are several bird cages hanging on the trees by the roadside. Just looking at them, they all feel comfortable happiness.

In Dongjuyuan Lane, there is a crispy jiaozi, which is halal. Six kinds of fillings-beef leek, beef lotus root, beef radish, beef leek, beef celery and beef fennel are particularly delicious. It is only open until seven or eight o'clock at the latest every day, and you can't eat it if you go late.

Step 6 explore history

Walking near Andingmen, you may encounter history at any time.

Huang accidentally found a stone tablet engraved with the word "Tang" near the underground passage of Andingmen. Take a closer look-it is a monument to the ruins of Dali Temple in the Tang Dynasty, which is the judicial organ of the central government in the Tang Dynasty, equivalent to the Supreme People's Court now.

In front of the children's park, there is an alley called "Gongyuanmen". It turns out that this is the former site of "Shaanxi Gongyuan", and Gongyuanmen is named after Gongyuanmen.

No wonder there are many ancient stone carvings in the children's park. The alleys outside the park are called "East Yard Lane" and "West Yard Lane".
