The Historical Evolution of Xinliao Town
The new guard was formed in the late Qing Dynasty. According to legend, before the Ming Dynasty, the jurisdiction of Xinliao Town was a desert island. At the beginning of the Ming Dynasty, Fujian Putian people drifted to this island, made a living by fishing in shallow water, and built huts to settle down, so it was called Xinliao Island. During the Ming and Qing Dynasties, this place belonged to Yanhe Township, Haikang County, and it belonged to Tiaofeng Township in the early years of the Republic of China. On the eve of the founding of the People's Republic of China, 1955 belonged to the third district of Haikang County. 1February 1956 was included in the sixth district of xuwen county, which was called Xinliao Township. 1958 belongs to jinhe commune (also known as upstream commune); 1May, 959, Xinliao People's Commune was established from Jinhe People's Commune; 1983 changed to xinliao district office; 1987 changed to xinliao town, and now it is a land island township.
