Gao Wendong started independent video production in 1999 and has participated in many contemporary art activities. He started creating feature films in 2004, and shot his first feature film "Cahiers du Cinema" (also known as "Third-Rate Film") in 2005. Since 2006, he has been filming a trilogy of urban films: "Xihai Village" (2006), "Gourmet Village" (2007), and "Ant Village" (2009). The work has been shortlisted for dozens of international film festivals including the Berlin Youth Forum, Vancouver, Seoul, South Korea, and Hong Kong.
