Different from other concessions, the vertical roads along the Yangtze River in the British Concession form an angle of about 75 with the Yangtze River which is basically perpendicular to the Beijing-Han Railway, forming a large number of parallelogram street textures, which is beneficial to the development of traffic and commerce relying on the Beijing-Han Railway. Hankou British Concession is one of the seven British Concessions in modern China (the other six are Shanghai British Concession (soon merged into Shanghai Public Concession), Tianjin British Concession, Zhenjiang British Concession, Jiujiang British Concession, Guangzhou British Concession and Xiamen British Concession).
