The Establishment and Development of Jinjiang Sheng Qiao Middle School
Sheng Qiao Middle School was founded by Taiping Renhe's Malaysian office and Dongshi Overseas Chinese Federation on the basis of 1954 cultural cram school. In August of that year, the first meeting of overseas Chinese representatives in Dongshi District was held, and the resolution to establish a middle school was unanimously adopted. A school-building committee was established, with Mr. Cai Youtao, vice chairman of Jinjiang Overseas Chinese Federation and chairman of dongshi town Overseas Chinese Federation, as the director and Mr. Cai Chongpu as the deputy director. The site of "Banyan Village" was selected as the school site. After the name of "Sheng Qiao" was determined, the foundation stone was laid in the autumn of 1955, and the first phase of construction began. In the first stage, there will be four classrooms with 12 rooms, a teacher dormitory with 30 rooms and a kitchen with 1 room, and there will be 1 men's and women's toilets in the northeast and northwest corners. At the beginning of the school, the Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, the Construction Committee, the relatives of overseas Chinese in each village, teachers and students, the people in neighboring villages and the public formed a volunteer labor team to participate in the school's voluntary establishment, and hundreds of touching stories of donating money, land, materials and workers emerged.
