What city is Taiyuan called?
Taiyuan, known as Jinyang in history, is an ancient city with a history of 2500 years. Jinyang is the capital of Shanxi Province in history. Founded in the Spring and Autumn Period in 497 BC, known as Jinyang City, it was the capital of Zhao in the early Warring States Period. In the Qin Dynasty, Taiyuan County was one of the 36 counties in China, and in the Western Han Dynasty, it was also called Bingzhou, one of the three states of China/KLOC-0, and the origin of Taiyuan, also known as Bingzhou. Before the Northern and Southern Dynasties, Qianzhao, Houyan, Qianqin and Beiqi were all capital cities. In the Sui Dynasty, Jinyang was the third largest city in China after Chang 'an and Luoyang. The Tang Dynasty originated in Jinyang, with Jinyang as its northern capital, and was called the "three capitals" together with Chang 'an in Kyoto and Luoyang in the east. During the Five Dynasties, the later Tang Dynasty, the later Jin Dynasty, the later Han Dynasty and the northern Han Dynasty were all capitals at first. In the history of more than 2,000 years, Taiyuan has always been a military town in the north of China, with the reputation of "controlling mountains and rivers and occupying the shoulders of the world". Mr. Guo Moruo also has a poem "Looking at Taiyuan from afar". By the Qing Dynasty, Taiyuan had developed into an important commercial and handicraft city in northern China. During the Republic of China, Taiyuan was a provincial city. Taiyuan is located in the middle of the Yellow River Basin in North China, surrounded by mountains on the west, north and east. Fenhe River, an important tributary of the Yellow River, runs through the city and flows through the territory about 100 km. The urban area is separated by Taihang Mountain in the east and Lvliang in the west, which is located on the valley plain between the two mountains. It has a continental climate in the north temperate zone, with no severe cold in winter and no intense heat in summer, large temperature difference between day and night, long frost-free period and abundant sunshine. Taiyuan is located inland, with simple folk customs and outstanding people. Celebrities come forth in large numbers, such as the famous war general Lian Po, the prime minister of the Tang Dynasty Di, the writer Bai Xingjian and his brother Bai Juyi, the famous painter of the Song Dynasty, Wang Changling and Wang Zhihuan, Huyan Zan and Yang, Mi Fei and Luo Guanzhong, the author of The Romance of the Three Kingdoms. The scenic spots and historical sites in the urban area include the Notre Dame Hall of Jinci, Tianlongshan Grottoes, Longshan Dojo, Chongshan Temple, Chunyang Palace, Baiyun Temple and "Zhenguan Bao Han" and "Jinci Inscription and Postscript" inscribed by Li Shimin of Emperor Taizong. Taiyuan is one of the megacities in China. It has jurisdiction over 6 districts, 1 city and 3 counties. There are 5/kloc-0 sub-district offices, 488 community neighborhood committees, 54 townships, 1030 villagers' committees and 1794 natural villages in the city. Taiyuan was an industrial base in the early days of the founding of the People's Republic of China. After more than 50 years of construction, a relatively complete industrial system has been formed with energy, metallurgy, machinery and chemical industry as the pillars, textiles, light industry, medicine, electronics, food, building materials and precision instruments as the supporting devices, and the advantages of scientific research institutions, universities and commercial material supply centers have been combined, so that the national economy has achieved rapid, coordinated and healthy development. By the end of 2004 10, Taiyuan's economy had sustained and rapid growth, with industrial added value, fixed assets investment and other indicators reaching more than 90% of the annual plan. This is the latest statistical data reported by Taiyuan Municipal Bureau of Statistics a few days ago. In this year's macro-control environment, Taiyuan has vigorously adjusted its economic structure, and the city's economy as a whole has shown a good development trend. Experts from the Municipal Bureau of Statistics said that it can be summarized by "five continuations", that is, the economy continues to maintain rapid growth, macro and micro benefits continue to improve, the consumer market continues to grow steadily, the income of urban and rural residents continues to grow, and the pace of economic restructuring continues to advance steadily. Relevant figures show that among the main economic indicators, the added value of industrial enterprises above designated size, investment in fixed assets, added value of township enterprises, total fiscal revenue, and regional foreign trade import and export have all achieved more than 90% of the annual plan, and the development trend is very good. From 1 to 1, a highlight of Taiyuan's economic life is the continuous prosperity of the consumer market, especially the successful holding of "Taiyuan Food Festival" and "Jinyang Cultural Festival", which further prospered the consumer market. The total retail sales of social consumer goods reached183.8 billion yuan, an increase of 22.3%. This figure also shows that the living standard of residents has improved rapidly and the consumption life has become more colorful.
