Chen Xiaoqing was born in Lingbi, Anhui in 1965. He graduated from Communication University of China (formerly Beijing Broadcasting Institute) in 1986, majoring in photography. In the same year, he was recommended to study for a master's degree without taking the exam. His research direction was photographic aesthetics. After graduation in 1989, he joined CCTV and served as the editor and director of "Local Station 30 Minutes". He is currently the producer of the "Witness·Video" column of the Cultural Special Department of the Social Education Center of China Central Television. Started filming documentaries in 1991. Representative works include "Song of the Forest" and "A Bite of China".
