Gluttony is also one of the four evils in ancient times and a symbol of greed. Its decoration is often painted on food containers. Gluttony pattern is a common pattern on bronzes, which is considered to depict the gluttonous animal face. There are gluttonous patterns on the jade articles of Liangzhu culture unearthed in the lower reaches of the Yangtze River, which has a history of more than 5,000 years. The name "gluttonous pattern" did not exist in ancient times, but was named by Song people when epigraphy rose. Because the image of gluttony is greedy and cruel, the ancients also used it to describe greedy and cruel people. There is such a record in Zuo Zhuan-Eighteen Years of Wengong: "The Jinyun family is incompetent and gluttonous, taking bribes with goods. Aggressive desire and luxury, not excess and disgust. Gather together, accumulate facts, but don't know the truth. No matter who is widowed, there is no pity. People in the world are more fierce than the third watch, which is called gluttony. " Du Yu's evaluation of this in the Western Jin Dynasty is: "Greed is gluttony, gluttony is food."
Later, because gluttony patterns often appeared on ancient vessels and wine vessels, the characteristics of gluttony and gluttony were strengthened. Su Dongpo, a great writer in the Song Dynasty, once wrote "Gourmet Fu": "The polymer of beauty is to support my gourmets." At this time, gourmets are not so ferocious, but more greedy and lovely. Today, people call people who like food gluttony, and friends who like food are also called gluttony. To put it bluntly, it is eating goods, but it is basically not derogatory.
