Travel Guide to Neuschwanstein Castle in Germany Where is Neuschwanstein Castle?
The Neuschwanstein Castle area is located at the southernmost tip of Germany, at the southern end of the German Romantic Avenue.
Close to the resort town of Füssen.
This is a castle built by King Ludwig II of Bavaria and his father. The castle is located close to Swan Lake and Alpine Lake.
This place itself is a combination of humanities and natural scenery.
Snow White's castle in Disney's animation is based on Neuschwanstein Castle.
The castle is built in harmony with the landscape, which is really beautiful.
The decoration inside the castle is very unique, but it is not as grand as the palaces in Paris and Rome.
The most advanced big city in the Neuschwanstein Castle area is Munich. From Neuschwanstein Castle to places like King's Lake or Salzburg, you have to take a train through Munich.
There is a small market at the foot of Hohenschwangau Castle where you can eat and buy some souvenirs.
Arrival transportation: It takes about 2 hours to take a train from Munich (München Hbf) to the small town of Füssen Bahnhof. The train frequency is approximately every hour.
Generally, it is recommended that you use the Bayern state ticket to come here because you have to take a bus from Fussen train station to Neuschwanstein Castle. This bus is also free with the Bayern state ticket.
Therefore, it is more cost-effective to use Bayern state tickets.
Transportation within the area: After getting off at the Füssen train station, there is a bus stop next to the train station. Take bus No. 73 and No. 78. It takes about 15 minutes to reach the Neuschwanstein Castle area, and get off at the Hohenschwangau Neuschwanstein Castles station.
If you have a Bayern ticket, the bus is free. But if you don't, the price is about: 2 euros for one way, 3.5 euros for round trip. After getting off the bus, just follow the crowd or the road signs and you will see the ticket office soon.
Tickets to enter the castle can be purchased at the ticket office.
The ticket office also has regional maps available here.
Neuschwanstein Castle and Hohenschwangau Castle are very close to each other and are on the hills beside the lake.
The two hills themselves are easy to walk, so it is not difficult to go up the mountain. Generally, it is recommended that you walk directly up the mountain, so that you can enjoy the scenery of lakes and mountains and fresh air all the way (it takes about 20 minutes to half an hour to go up the mountain).
But if you don’t want to leave, there are other ways. 1. Take a carriage. Taking a carriage is more expensive but has a better feel. I personally don’t recommend it because the smell of horse manure is stronger. 2. Just make a car, which is cheaper than a carriage and requires less effort.
Catering: For catering, you can consider eating in the town of Fussen. Relatively speaking, there are more choices for food, but in fact, the more recommended way is to eat directly at the foot of Neuschwanstein Castle.
It is very comfortable to eat among the lakes and mountains.
If you don’t like eating in restaurants very much, you can consider buying food at the supermarket (FENEBERG) near the train station and taking it to the Swan Castle area to eat.
Even if you don’t plan to go on a picnic, it is recommended to buy some bread mainly because you can feed the swans at Swan Lake.
How to visit Neuschwanstein Castle? Feed the swans at Swan Lake. There are two lakes near Neuschwanstein Castle: Alpine Lake and Swan Lake. Alpine Lake is slightly larger than Swan Lake.
There are many beautiful swans on the lake. You can play on the lawn by the lake and feed the swans.
Boating on Swan Lake There is a boat rental on Swan Lake for 5.5 euros for half an hour. It’s a good experience.
Introduction to attractions and routes There are two main ways to play in the Neuschwanstein Castle area: 1. How to enter the castle 2. How to play without entering the castle There are two castles in the Neuschwanstein Castle area. Both castles can be visited, but the inside of the castle
The decoration is not as grand and magnificent as the buildings in Paris and Rome.
So if time is very limited, you may actually consider not visiting the castle.
But if you have a whole day to spend at Neuschwanstein Castle, you can consider visiting the castle.
The advantages of entering the tour are: 1. Cheap tickets (17 euros for two castles) 2. There is a Chinese guide 3. You can listen to some stories about the castle after entering.
The biggest disadvantage of entering the castle to play is that it takes a lot of time.
Generally, you don’t get to visit the castle immediately after buying a ticket.
When you buy the ticket, you will be assigned a visiting time. If you do not arrive at the time, you will not be able to enter.
When the time comes, you still have to queue up at the gate of the castle (you also have to have your number called, like a bank...).
