In the early days, Taoism did not abstain from meat. Later, under the influence of Buddhism, it gradually changed the diet structure and the contents of offering sacrifices to the gods, advocated and stipulated that Taoist priests should be vegetarian, and changed the previous sacrifices of animals such as pigs, sheep, chickens, ducks and fish to fragrant flowers, fruits and grains. Later, Taoism continued to summarize this and formed a set of systematic awareness and measures to respect and protect the ecological environment from the precepts.
