Intertextual rhetoric in Mulan's poems

"the east market buys horses, and the west market buys saddles. The intertextual sentence "the bridle is bought in the south city and the whip is bought in the north city" describes that Mulan's family purchased horses, saddles, bridles and whips needed to join the army in various markets and places in the east, west, north and south.

The poem describes Mulan's hard life in battle, and there is an intertextual sentence: "A general dies in hundreds of battles, but a strong man returns in ten years." During their long career of defending the country and defending the border, generals and strong men experienced numerous fierce battles. Some of them were bloody and died for their country, while others made meritorious military service and returned to the DPRK in triumph.

There is also an intertextual sentence in the poem about Mulan's resignation and her return to her hometown: "When the household is in charge of the clouds, it will be yellow for the mirror." Although Mulan has made great achievements, the son of heaven "rewarded a hundred strong men" to her, but she didn't love being rewarded by her official, but resigned her official position and thanked her for it. She just wanted to return to her hometown and still live her simple peasant life.
