I remember when I traveled to Chengdu for the first time, like other tourists, I made a special trip to check in Kuanzhai Alley and Jinli... which counts as a visit.
But every time I went to Chengdu, I never went there. Because it is basically a tourist street, it is crowded and noisy, and it is too commercial.
If I have nothing to do, I will go to the Heming Teahouse in People’s Park to spend an afternoon, drink tea and watch the local people live leisurely.
Later, we went to find an alley to wander around, find a nice cafe to hang out in, and then go find some local food.
Near the most famous Kuanzhai Alley in Chengdu, there are two small streets where delicious food gathers and the photos are very beautiful. I recommend you to go shopping.
Not far from Kuanzhai Alley and within walking distance, there is a Xiaotong Alley, which is a gathering place for artistic youth. There are many cute little shops in the alley.
Xiaotong Alley is located in Qingyang District, Chengdu City, Sichuan Province, next to Kuanzhai Alley and can be reached in less than ten minutes.
Whether it is Duoduo’s Coffee, Coconut Dessert Shop, various craft beer restaurants, Daju Store, and Xiaobai Xing, every shop is very beautiful and you can see it. It’s all about the owner’s intentions.
The Coconut Dessert Shop is filled with all kinds of candy colors, full of girlish charm.
There is also a place at the entrance specially designed for tourists to take pictures.
At a glance, there are all kinds of macarons. How do you make every store in this small street look good?
The whole alley is very short, a little artistic, a little retro, and more of the "fireworks" brought by the deep streets, old alleys and old residential buildings.
Xiaotong Alley is one of the many "slow life" alleys in Chengdu. It is also a silhouette of Chengdu's leisurely and gentle temperament.
If you go to Chengdu and have nothing to do like me, you can go shopping.
If you ask any local foodie in Chengdu, there is no one who doesn’t know Kuixinglou Street, right? This is a food street visited by Chengdu locals.
Kuixinglou Street is actually very short, only about a hundred meters, and it is two parallel streets to Xiaotong Lane.
As a foodie, everyone in line wants to try it.
I queued up and bought a Yi Lao Tai Egg Baked Cake. It was delicious, but I was confused about which flavor to buy.
Finally I bought the sugar and sesame flavor. What did I think?
I also ate the Meidian Douhua, which is said to be the most delicious in Chengdu, and it was carbohydrates + sugar. I had forgotten about losing weight.
But it’s really delicious and not expensive.
Can you imagine? The bean curd is actually sweet! In Suzhou, tofu pudding is salty and contains pickled mustard, dried shrimps, egg yolks, soy sauce and the like.
It is a real pleasure to sit on the street and watch Chengdu beauties showing off their slender waists.
In the end, we queued up to eat a pot of limestone roasted chicken, which was so spicy that it burst into flames.
The store wrote: If you want something spicy, just point to the "ceiling" and they will give you the spiciest enjoyment.
On that trip, I ate spicy food in Leshan, Sichuan, and Chengdu for a few days. I began to miss the original taste of Jiangsu and Zhejiang cuisine, and my mouth was so spicy that it froze.
It’s not easy to eat.
The man selling maltose candies was very impressive when he passed by with jingling sounds on the roadside.
If you go to Chengdu and like to experience the life of the locals, then you can do what I did and go to Xiaotong Alley for afternoon tea and Kuixinglou Street for dinner!
