Why doesn't the tortoise eat food? God bless.
Turtles don't eat. Consider the following points: 1. The temperature has not stabilized above 20 degrees, and they have not fully woken up from hibernation; 2. I just bought it and haven't adapted to the environment; This food is not to my taste. Water turtles are mainly small fish and shrimp, half water is fruits and vegetables, and tortoises are mainly vegetables and grass. Different species have different preferences. Determine the species of turtle you have and vote for it. I prefer to keep turtles. As long as you choose your own turtle, no matter what its appearance is, as long as you care about it, it is your favorite turtle, because the natural appearance is not necessarily bad, it may be bad because of road bumps or water quality problems the day after tomorrow. As long as you raise it well, it will bring you happiness. Let's talk about two staple foods I give to my family: 1, small fish. Wear a fish to live. You can let it catch it half dead, or you can feed it with your hands. The poop you pull out is black. 2. Shrimp, which has just died in the market, is rich in nutrition and increases the quality of beggars, but the head should be removed to avoid hurting the feed, and the poop is pink. Some incidental foods: fruits, apples, bananas, etc. But the grass doesn't like eating very much. It only eats when it is particularly hungry. But fruit has vitamins, so you can buy some vitamins to feed fish and shrimp, including calcium tablets, or crush them and apply them to your body to increase nutrition. Feed them every other day and eat more nutritious food before hibernation. Treatment of common diseases of tortoises: Under normal circumstances, tortoises will not eat the food they just bought. The two reasons are that the temperature is not high, but they are not suitable for the environment. However, many novices think that the turtles they bought are not good, and they don't take good care of them, which leads to illness. In fact, when they just bought it back, they had to rest for a week or so, and then they could eat it when the temperature was above 20 degrees. If they just buy them, they won't eat them because they don't adapt to the environment. White eye disease: dry culture in the sun (but drink water) and apply chlortetracycline eye ointment for one to two weeks. Rotten nails and rotten skin: personal feeding experience, go to the drugstore to buy some oxytetracycline (very cheap) and put it on food. Although you will spit it out, you can eat a little, or soak it in broken water, but changing water or basking in the sun every day will naturally get better. Don't worry, just change the water, bask in the sun and bubble every day. Naturally, it will get better one day, but be patient. I don't like using hydrogen peroxide and potassium permanganate, because they are harmful to the color and luster of shells, but they are not unusable. They should be absolutely diluted and can't be used for too long. Then malnutrition, it is necessary to cooperate with various foods and get more sunshine. The soft-shelled turtle just bought can be soaked in salt water to kill parasites. Some necessary items before buying a turtle: 1, the bigger the jar, the better. 2. Drugs, chlortetracycline eye ointment, oxytetracycline, calcium tablets (ordinary can also be used) and vitamin tablets (ordinary can also be used). 3. Heating rods (imported) are very helpful to soft-shelled turtles, because some soft-shelled turtles can't eat without heating. Of course, once they are opened, they should not be used. 4. Potions are the five-yuan potions for buying turtles in the flower and bird market. Although people say they are useless, you can soak turtles with a few drops after buying them, which is good for eating. My own stones can add up the price of turtles in the sun. According to the size of the jar, 40 to 100 pills add up to about 20 yuan, and the heating rod is about 40 yuan. For stones, you can consider how to get bigger hungry pebbles by yourself. Generally, grass will start to eat when it is above 20 degrees. It's not expensive to add up, so it takes a lot of thought to raise turtles. You can't think it's bad to buy them and not eat them. It is necessary to be patient and reproduce again in the future. Personally, I think the highest level of raising turtles is also here. If the turtle is healthy, there is nothing wrong with it, but if the newly bought turtle encounters this weather, it will not open the food for two weeks. It takes patience for turtles to open their food, but in the case of unstable weather, they should be kept separately and then mixed. The yellow throat I just bought was raised separately, because I was timid, but after raising it for a while, I basically got much bolder, and then I mixed with the little Brazil I just bought, so the yellow throat got much bolder, but the Brazil I just bought was closed for two weeks because of the weather and environment, but Brazil. The main reason is the weather. Yellow mold in Shanghai is the place where turtles are most likely to get white eye disease. I usually use chlortetracycline eye ointment and eye drops as treatment. The latter is more difficult to apply because turtles are timid. Follow-up: My family is a Brazilian ghost. It has been several years, and his eyes are open at this time of year. But now he is afraid of scratching when eating. He could only see a crack in his eye and answered, Is it white and swollen? Follow-up: No, just a crack. Answer: If the turtle just woke up from hibernation is not interested in food and refuses to eat, the breeder should not be surprised. Like many people who just woke up from hibernation, turtles feel dizzy and need some time to adjust, but turtles need much more time to adjust, about 1-2 days, or longer. Many turtles who just woke up from hibernation look skinny or seem to be malnourished, which is normal according to the usual situation. At this time, it is necessary for the breeder to have some patience. The feed for the first few times should be small and refined, and appropriate nutritional drugs and antibiotics should be mixed into the feed. Gradually increase the feeding amount, and after a period of time, feed the turtle according to its maximum food intake, so that the turtle can recover as soon as possible. Winter is the time when most water turtles and tortoises living in the wild hibernate. Generally, when the temperature is below 20 degrees, turtles' activities begin to decrease, and their food intake also decreases, so they eat little or nothing. Hibernation is usually accompanied by the shortening of the day, the lack of food caused by the invasion of cold current, and climatic conditions that are not conducive to the normal behavior of reptiles. During hibernation, metabolism slows down, digestion stops, circulation drops, and immune and other self-protection systems slow down or stop. Because these diseases will take advantage of these changes, some seemingly insignificant ailments will bring great trouble to turtles, so it is suggested that turtle owners should not let sick turtles or weak turtles hibernate. For newly hatched turtles, it is best not to let them hibernate for the first two years. And those turtles from the tropics don't have the habit of hibernating, so don't let them hibernate. For turtles that don't hibernate, measures can be taken to raise them by heating when the temperature drops in winter. If they are turtles, you can use ordinary incandescent light bulbs or ordinary desk lamps with special light bulbs for reptiles (including ultraviolet rays), electric blankets and heating stones for reptiles, or put electric heaters in the room, but be careful not to make the air too dry (like fish). If they are turtles, you can put a thermostat in the water (this thermostat is generally available in the ornamental fish market). Hibernation care varies from turtle to turtle. Here are some suggestions. Water turtle: Water turtles in the wild usually dive into the mud at the bottom of the water or hibernate under rocks or fallen leaves on the shore. There are several hibernation measures for domestic water turtles: 1. Bury them in wet sand and pay attention to ensure the high humidity of the sand. 2. Cover their bodies with wet gauze (Shanghai turtle friend Shen Wei's experience in 2000). 3. Put them in shallow water (this method is not recommended for semi-aquatic turtles like yellow-edged box turtles). 4. Put them in a wooden box and cover them with damp straw (Gui You Junko's experience). Supplement: Hibernating water turtles should also be checked regularly. Don't let weak turtles or sick turtles hibernate. They don't have enough fat to consume during hibernation. Stop feeding one week before hibernation and soak in warm water, otherwise the accumulation of food and feces in the body during hibernation will easily cause gastroenteritis. Be sure to keep high humidity, or you will die of lack of water (I had such a painful experience with laborers when I was a child). The ambient temperature during hibernation should not be lower than 5 C, otherwise it will die due to excessive freezing. They can also be raised by heating to prevent them from hibernating. However, the frequency and quantity of their eating in winter will be reduced to some extent. But for some species of closed-shell turtles, the process of not hibernating may be fatal, and they must hibernate.
