Dunhuang is an ancient city with a long history and an important town on the Silk Road. In the past hundred years, countless stories have happened here, which were recorded in Dunhuang Mogao Grottoes. And See Dunhuang Again is even a play of Mogao Grottoes. The whole journey is divided into four viewing spots, and you can see Dunhuang culture in different periods, which takes about 2 hours. Famous Mountain Cross-country Scenic Area
For tourists who love to play and enjoy the excitement, it is essential to experience a cross-country race at the Crescent Spring in Mingsha Mountain. It takes about 4 minutes to cross-country 26 yuan in scenic spots, and the price may be higher in peak season. Blessed are the friends who think the price is too high and uneconomical, because what I want to tell you now is that there is a local off-road vehicle team behind Mingsha Mountain, with 3-4 people in one car, and the whole journey takes about 2 hours. As long as 4 yuan/people are involved, you need to book 3 days in advance in the off-season and 1 day in the peak season.
location: 2m east of the north zone of Yingbin Garden.
bonfire party
Many people think that bonfire party is a winter activity. But the bonfire party in summer is also good ~ at eight or nine o'clock in the evening, light a bonfire in the desert. It's perfect to prepare seasonal fruits, northwest special farmhouse meals, beer and drinks, and barbecue buffet with friends and relatives. Living in a tent at night and looking up at the stars, you will find that this is the real meaning of the journey.
delicious food
is not high-end and the price is not expensive. Generally, one is around 15 yuan. But the low price doesn't mean it's not delicious. Besides noodles, there are many side dishes, such as peppers, eggplant, beans, mushrooms and so on. Compared with the yellow noodles of donkey meat, Lamian Noodles is a popular food for local people, and there are many restaurants in the streets. Don't miss it.
Kang mutton
Northwest mutton is famous all over the country, and Subei mutton is famous in the northwest. Dunhuang is only about 1 kilometers away from Subei, where you can eat mutton with very good quality, among which Guo Kang mutton is a good choice. Guo Kang mutton sold in restaurants is usually about one kilogram of 8 yuan. Besides mutton, there are side dishes such as potatoes, sweet peppers and onions, which are suitable for two or three people.
desert sand chicken
desert sand chicken is not a pheasant in the desert, but is named after the chicken is cooked with a layer of golden sand on its surface. This dish is golden in color, crispy and tender. Usually the price is around 12-15 yuan, which is suitable for 3-4 people.
steaming money
money is a delicacy in spring. In spring, many people in Dunhuang will collect money and eat it slowly. Most small restaurants in Dunhuang also have this dish. There are many ways to make money. The most common delicious foods are steamed money and fried money. Steamed money looks fresh and smells fragrant. Fried elm money, green and yellow, tastes soft and delicious. The price of a dish of elm money is generally around 2 yuan. As a pure natural green food, this price is not high and it is worth a try.
besides the well-known scenic spots and famous food, the experience and food I recommend are also worth your experience. If you are worried that you can't find real local food on your trip, you might as well share a car with your friends. As a local driver's master, I can also give you some tips ~
Travel Notes
What attracts me most in Dunhuang is not the lofty sentiments of the Gobi Desert, nor the magnificence of the long yellow sand, but the unique sense of humanity and art forged by time. This place has a Mogao grottoes, a world cultural heritage that still shines in the world after various dynasties; There are countless cultural relics left behind, among which the shadow of history can be grasped; With the inheritance and extension of Dunhuang culture by modern people, a Dunhuang characteristic performance has merged into a mysterious and magnificent Dunhuang. With longing, I finally set foot on the road to Dunhuang and started this cultural journey.
The first stop of our trip to Dunhuang is of course the long-awaited Mogao Grottoes. The Mogao Grottoes are located at the waist of the Khaki Mountains, surrounded by deserts and Gobi.
The Mogao Grottoes, commonly known as the Thousand Buddha Cave, is one of the largest, longest, richest and best-preserved Buddhist grottoes and temples in the world. It is famous all over the world. When we mention the Mogao Grottoes, the first thing that comes to mind are the exquisite murals and statues. Entering the Mogao Grottoes Scenic Area, you can see countless grottoes of different sizes, much like beehives, so densely arranged on the conglomerate cliffs.
This is the ninth floor of the representative building of the Mogao Grottoes! In order to prevent landslides, Takeaway Mountain was reinforced with thick granite and a long plank road was built for tourists to visit.
After a quick visit to the Mogao Grottoes, in the afternoon, I came to the oasis in the desert-Crescent Spring. Before I came to Dunhuang, I used to think that Dunhuang was a city covered by boundless desert, and all the cities were in the desert. I didn't know it until I arrived in Dunhuang. It's not like any city I've been to. Dunhuang has not only the vast desert and wonderful murals in my impression, but also the warm current from the desert mixed in the air.
the vast desert is lonely, and the yellow river sets the yen. Some people can't say that the Great Wall is not a hero. I think it's a pity that I don't come to Dunhuang. There are camels in the desert, far away from the hustle and bustle of the city, the endless desert, a clear spring, and cloudless Wan Li. This is the only fairyland on earth.
There is also a beautiful legend about Crescent Moon Spring: There was no Mingsha Mountain or Crescent Moon Spring here before, only a screamo temple. On the eighth day of April one year, the annual Buddha washing festival was held in the temple. Good men and women burn incense and worship Buddha in the temple. In the autumn of Dunhuang Crescent Spring, when Buddhist activities continued to sprinkle holy water, the abbot took out a bowl of ancestral holy water from Leiyin Temple and put it in front of the temple. Suddenly, I heard a foreign warlock loudly challenge me to compete with the abbot. I saw the warlock waving his sword and saying something. At this moment, the sky is dark, the wind is blowing hard, and the yellow sand is overwhelming, burying the Leiyin Temple in the bottom of the sand. Strangely, the bowl of holy water in front of the temple is safe and sound, and it is still in its original place. The warlock used all his magic to fill the bowl with sand, but no matter how big the magic was, there was not a grain of sand in the bowl.
until a sand hill is formed around the bowl, the holy water bowl is as safe as ever. The warlock had no choice but to leave. Just a few steps, suddenly there was a roar. Half a bowl of holy water inclines into a spring, and the warlock becomes a pool of black stone. It turns out that this bowl of holy water was given to the abbot of Leiyin Temple by Buddha Sakyamuni and passed down from generation to generation. It is specially used for people to eliminate diseases and disasters, so it is called "holy water". Because pagans committed sins and destroyed all beings, they showed their punishment, which led to the bowl toppling and the spring forming a crescent spring.
a clear spring bends, rippling and green as jade. In the quicksand of spring, the drought is inexhaustible, and the sandstorm does not fall, which is quite spectacular.
As the sun goes down, the light begins to soften, and the water in the crescent spring becomes a golden mirror, so it is not so hot when walking on the beach.
The day's journey is coming to an end, and we all want more. When I hitchhiked back to the hotel, I accidentally saw a program "Silk Road Flowers and Rain" on the roadside to promote Dunhuang culture. We didn't have a good day, and after discussing with our girlfriend, we decided to watch the performance of Silk Road Rain.
It is worth mentioning that the performance of Rain on Silk Road took place in Dunhuang Grand Theatre, the venue of the first Silk Road (Dunhuang) International Cultural Expo in 216. Speaking of Dunhuang Grand Theatre, at first glance, it feels particularly solemn and tall, which sets off its cultural background well. Before watching Rain on Silk Road, you can also enjoy the grandeur of the buildings in this area and take photos as a souvenir.
Dunhuang culture and art can be said to be mysterious and beautiful, and this wonderful sitcom truly shows the spirituality of Dunhua murals and the characteristics of Dunhuang elements, so that the history carved on the stone wall can be displayed in the form of dance.
The third letter of the English alphabet
55-79 tells the joys and sorrows of the painter Zhang Bi and his daughter ying niang, as well as the pure friendship with the Persian businessman Inus. The image reproduces the profoundness of Dunhuang culture and praises the splendid image of Dunhuang culture and art created by the working people and the long-standing friendship between Chinese and foreign people. One of the most classic is the action of playing pipa in Dunhuang Mogao Grottoes. In the mural, the woman plays the lute with both hands, while the actor vividly depicts the mural on the stage, just like Ying Niang herself, and this action is also a symbolic action of the unrecognized Dunhuang dance, which can be called a walking Dunhuang mural!
55-79 is called "Flower Rain on Silk Road in the East", which combines China classical dance, Dunhuang dance, Indian dance, black scarf dance, Persian bell dance, Persian wine dance, Turkish dance, dish dance and Xinjiang dance, and is called "the model of China national dance drama". The performance of "Rain on Silk Road" left us wanting more, and we couldn't help but pay tribute to the actors' serious applause. Until we returned to our residence, we were still lamenting the exquisiteness of the dance drama, and we couldn't wait to portray this scene in our minds forever, with endless aftertaste.
The whole day's trip to Dunhuang in the desert gave us a great shock. From watching the Mogao Grottoes, visiting Mingsha Mountain, and watching the performance of Swan Lake, every time is more meaningful, distinctive and spectacular. Personally, I think the drama Rain on Silk Road is realistic and romantic. It is contemporary and future; It is national and worldwide. We are looking forward to our trip to Dunhuang in the next few days! When you come to Dunhuang, you must leave the best memories!
