It's your sin, but it's delicious, really delicious ... my Chinese food on the plate, my meat on the plate.
—— Five Childes
In the story of ghosts and gods told in the ferry of souls, it is either the infatuation of monsters or human regret, but in the episode of Five Childes in the first season, there is no mention of looking for a marriage, only a story about fierce beasts in ancient times. Five childe, is the fifth of nine sons born in Longsheng, gluttonous.
In the play, Wu Gongzi runs a restaurant called the fifth floor. Although it is a restaurant, the situation in this episode is still quite scary. The female guests are greedy and eating delicious food, but they don't know that this food is their own. While Holly strayed into the fifth floor, Wu Gongzi also planned to eat Holly, but was rescued by Zhao Li and Wang Xiaoya.
As the fifth son of the dragon, Wu Gongzi is also a monster in ancient times. Even Zhao Li had to kneel down on one knee when he saw him. It is not difficult to see that Zhao Li didn't want to provoke him at all, but only wanted to save Holly. Finally, Wu Gongzi just ran away. However, it can be seen from the rhetoric of the Five Childes that gluttony has been eating people. In modern society, people have too many toxins in their bodies to eat their souls. The strength here satirizes the food safety issue.
In the later plot, Zhou Xiaohui took Xiaowan to eat kebabs, and the boss was Wu Gongzi. This is also a foreshadowing for the previous plot. After the last escape, Wu Gongzi has been eating people.
So, why are gluttons so obsessed with eating people? We have to start with the origin of gluttony. The earliest books that recorded gluttony were the classic traditional mystery novels Shan Hai Jing and Shen Yi Jing.
In Shan Hai Jing Bei Ci Er Jing, the description of gluttony is as follows: Gouwu Mountain is rich in jade and rich in copper. There is a beast, which looks like a sheep's body and a human face. Its eyes are under the armpits, and its teeth are claws. Its sound is like a baby, and it is called a man-eater.
this is gluttony.
It is recorded in the Miraculous Classic of the Wild West: gluttony, animal name, body like an ox, eyes under the armpit, cannibalism.
Although the descriptions of gluttony in the two fairy tales are somewhat different in appearance, they both have a characteristic of cannibalism, so in the play, Wu Gongzi will continue to eat people, just like another ancient monster "Yi", continuing to devour people's secrets. This ancient monster has profound divine power, including fierce beasts and beasts, and gluttony is one of the four fierce beasts. It is impossible to surrender it.
Of course, this is just a fairy tale. In reality, gluttony is just a mythical animal image, but the "two-legged sheep" mentioned by Wu Gongzi actually happened in history.
This stems from the May 4th Chaos in China, when many ethnic minorities fought against the Han nationality, also known as the Yongjia Rebellion. Because of the geographical environment and human reasons, the ethnic groups such as Jie, Xianbei and Xiongnu still retained their primitive wildness, that is, they would eat people. When these people attacked south, they not only robbed wealth, but also plundered a large number of Han people, and used them as military food, and the Jie people turned them into "two-legged sheep."
In the soul ferry, every story has a deep meaning. The story satirizes those who are insatiable by borrowing five sons. Desire is like a ravine, which will never be filled, and endless greed will drag them into the abyss.
