Shantou’s geographical location and overview

Shantou, a city under the jurisdiction of Guangdong Province, is located in the eastern part of Guangdong Province, at the southern end of the Han River Delta, bordering Chaozhou to the north, Jieyang to the west, and the South China Sea to the southeast.

Within the territory, Hanjiang, Rongjiang and Lianjiang rivers enter the sea. The mainland coastline is 217.7 kilometers long, the island coastline is 167.37 kilometers long, and there are 82 large and small islands.

It borders Raoping, Chaozhou to the northeast, Chaoan, Chaozhou to the north, Jieyang and Puning to the west, and Jieyang and Puning to the southwest.

It is connected to Huilai from Jieyang, and its southeast is close to the South China Sea.

Shantou is an important node in the "Greater Pearl River Delta" and "Pan-Pearl River Delta" economic circles. It is an important hub of the Xiamen-Zhangzhou-Quanzhou Triangle (Note: Xiamen, Zhangzhou, Quanzhou Coastal Economic Open Zone?), the Pearl River Delta and the West Coast Economic Belt.
