1. Slender West Lake
"Fireworks descend to Yangzhou in March". When you come to Yangzhou in spring, you must visit Slender West Lake. Slender West Lake is a long and narrow river. Here, you can either walk along the river to enjoy the natural beauty, or walk into pavilions and enjoy the poems and paintings of Mo Bao by literati of past dynasties, or you can get on a boat and feel the carefree mood of Emperor Qianlong when he visited the lake. The whole Slender West Lake Scenic Area is very large, starting from Dahongqiao in the southeast of the scenic area, going north along the lake until Guanyin Mountain, passing through dozens of scenic spots on the way. There are four gates in the scenic spot, which are southeast, northwest and northwest. Usually, you start to visit from the south gate on Dahongqiao Road. Slender West Lake is a famous garden on the lake, with beautiful natural landscape. In spring, green willows are shaded here, accompanied by camellia, pomegranate, rhododendron, peach and other flower trees, attracting tourists from all over the world to enjoy the flowers every year.
2. He Yuan
He Zhi _, the owner of He Yuan Garden, was a Yangzhou gentry who married Li Hongzhang, an important official in the late Qing Dynasty, and Sun Jianai, the master of Guangxu Emperor. He built this private garden in the ninth year of Guangxu (AD 1883). Heyuan Garden has the reputation of "the first garden in the late Qing Dynasty". The buildings in the garden combine Chinese and western styles, and are connected in series by multiple corridors, with a layered layout. The whole garden consists of a back garden, a residence courtyard and a flaky mountain house in the southeast (a pile of rockery, with only relics left, and a very small scale), which are connected into a whole by a corridor (Yangzhou people commonly call it "a cascade of buildings", that is, a corridor divided into upper and lower floors. This cloister with upper and lower floors is the biggest feature of Heyuan architecture. People in the garden walk through the cloister, sheltering from rain in rainy days and shading in sunny days, which is not affected by the weather.
3. Dongguan Street
Dongguan Street is located in the center of Yangzhou. It is paved with stone slabs as the main street. When you walk on the road, you can see the salt merchants' courtyard with blue bricks and gray tiles from time to time, and the concentration of food and local specialties adds fun to tourists' shopping. It is worthy of being called "the most representative historical old street in Yangzhou City". Dongguan Street is 1122 meters long from the ancient canal in the east to Guoqing Road in the west. The Dongguan Gudu at its eastern end was the most prosperous pier in Yangzhou in the Tang Dynasty. With the pier, Dongguan Street, a market with dense commerce and trade, developed. Now Dongguan Street still maintains the appearance of Ming and Qing Dynasties.
4. Yangzhou Ancient Canal
Yangzhou Ancient Canal refers to the river section from Zhuyuwan Scenic Spot Scenic Area to Gao _ Temple. The main areas for tourists to visit are from Nanmen Pier to Bianyimen Square Pier in Yangzhou City. There are famous scenic spots along this section, such as Dongguan Street Historic District, which can be visited on foot or by boat. At night, the lights are lit by the canal, and the night scene is beautiful. If you want to visit on foot, it is recommended to walk from Heyuan to Dongguan Street. There are not many scenic spots on the sections of Nanmen Wharf-Heyuan, Dongguan Street-Bianyimen Square Wharf. Never start from Heyuan by the canal, go south to Kangshan Street, then visit Lushi Salt Merchants' House and its adjacent Yanzong Temple in the east, then go east to Nantong East Road by the canal, then turn north along Nantong East Road and visit along the west bank of the canal.
